The Mary G. Walsh Center Writing Center is the hub of writing support for writers and teachers of writing at Salem State University (SSU) and in the Greater Salem Community. The goals of this Center are to promote, foster, and nurture a culture that values writing and the teaching of writing, and to build a community of confident and effective writers and faculty at SSU and in the Greater Salem community.
The center offers support through multiple programs:
in-person and remote peer tutoring and programming,
the Writing Intensive Curriculum (WIC) Program,
the First Year Writing Program,
the Multilingual Writing Program,
the SSU/NNU Mandarin and English Tutoring Program for 1+2+1 students,
SSU/SHS Early College Writing and Tutoring Center,
the Changing Lives Through Literature (CLTL) program, and
Our tip archive hosts dozens of previous tips on topics such as peer review, video feedback, drafting, revising, editing, assignment design, and teaching multilingual writers.
