Salem State University to Re-Open on Wednesday, February 25
Thanks to the tireless efforts of colleagues across the university, we have safely come through the storm and National Grid has restored power to all campus buildings. With essential services online, the university will reopen tomorrow, February 25.
Please keep in mind, it may take a few hours for full restoration of heat and hot water to the impacted areas.
As we transition back to full capacity, the warming and recharging areas in Forten 123, the Starbucks lounge area, and Ellison Campus Center, and the library lobby will remain open until 12 pm this evening.
Classes: Transition Day Plan
Due to operational challenges from the storm, the campus will benefit from a transition plan for classes tomorrow, Wednesday, February 25.
Classes that require the use of specialized teaching and learning facilities (such as those found in labs, studios, activity spaces, and the like) will meet on campus in their regularly scheduled locations.
Classes that do not require the use of specialized facilities (lecture and seminar offerings) should meet at their scheduled time but remotely on Wednesday.
Faculty members should notify their students via Canvas and plan accordingly.
Dining
North Campus Dining remains open until 10 pm on Tuesday, February 24.
On Wednesday, February 25, Viking Dining will resume on their regular schedules.
Shuttles
The shuttles will run on their normal Wednesday schedule.
Thank you!
Our students and staff truly personified the Viking spirit this week. Dining, facilities, residential staff, and university police worked around the clock in ever-changing conditions to keep our residents fed and safe. Students watched out for one another, checking in on their neighbors, making store runs, digging out vehicles, and hosting movie nights. The compassion and community we demonstrated will be remembered long after the winter has finally passed.
