Entrance Exams

Testing Requirement Waiver

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, GRE, GMAT and MTEL testing has temporarily been waived from the application requirements for a number of our graduate programs through Fall 2021.

Questions about standardized testing requirements should be directed to the School of Graduate Studies at graduate@salemstate.edu.

Most of our education preparation programs will require the MTEL. Most require passing scores on the Communication and Literacy Exam, with BOTH the reading and writing subtests. Some programs require a passing score on the related subject area test as well.

Please refer to your program specific requirements for specifics on which exam(s) you may need.

Salem State can only accept official scores directly from the evaluation system.

When you take the exam, you can list Salem State as a recipient school so we can receive the scores electronically.

If you have already taken the exam, you can send scores using the reprint request form. Sealed scores can then be sent to the address below. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.
