Graduate Admissions Transcripts

An official transcript (or transcript evaluation) documenting your completed or in-progress bachelor’s degree is required for all graduate programs. Salem State requires an official transcript from all institutions attended, including those showing any graduate-level courses taken.

Check program-specific transcript requirements via their “Apply Now” page for additional details. 

Please note: an official transcript or transcript evaluation is one that is sent directly from the institution attended or evaluation agency, either electronically or via standard mail.

If you earned your degree at...

  • Salem State (or took classes here): Graduate Admissions will download your transcript for you.
  • An institution in the United States: Contact the institution's registrar's office so they can issue your official transcript.
  • An institution outside of the United States: Have your institution send your official records to one of our approved agencies (TEC (formerly SpanTran), CED, WES, NAEG, or ECE) for evaluation. Salem State requires a detailed, course-by-course evaluation.

How to send us your transcripts

We recommend that you have your previous transcripts sent electronically, when possible. Electronic transcripts can be sent directly from your previous institution to gradadmissions@salemstate.edu.  

If you are unable to send an electronic transcript, transcripts can be mailed to the address below. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

Entrance Exams

Entrance exams are not required for all programs; please check your program-specific application requirements.

GRE (Graduate Record Exam)

Salem State can only accept official scores directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). When you take the exam, you can list Salem State as a recipient school so we can receive the scores electronically.

If you have already taken the exam, you can order Additional Score Reports (ASRs) online through your ETS account at any time during the 5-year period that your scores are valid.

GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test)

Salem State can only accept official scores directly from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). When you take the exam, you can list Salem State as a recipient school so we can receive the scores electronically.

If you have already taken the exam, you can send your Official Score report online through your GMAT account, as long as your score is no more than 5-years old. If you have scores older than five years but less than 10 years, GMAC allows you to request that they be sent as long as you have not taken a GMAT exam within the past five years.

State's GMAT code: 2WD-QN-73 (full-time program) or 2WD-QN-49 (part-time program)

MTEL (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)

Salem State can only accept official scores directly from the evaluation system. When you take the exam, you can list Salem State as a recipient school so we can receive the scores electronically.

If you have already taken the exam, you can send scores using the reprint request form. Sealed scores can then be sent to the address below. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.
