Responsible for providing organization and leadership in coordinating the operation of department-managed spaces.  Assists in coordinating building services, set-ups, tech support, and activities.

Supervises all Gassett Fitness Center facility spaces and oversees matters related to the operation of all activity areas in the O'Keefe Complex. Must have a thorough knowledge of all areas of Campus Life and Recreation Programming. Responsible for opening and closing of facilities for recreational usage and special events, responding to accidents, injuries and emergencies, completing appropriate paperwork, and enforcing departmental and university policies to all facility users. Will be responsible for the processing of financial transactions. Must possess strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills and be able to work a flexible schedule. Position requires early morning, late evening and weekend hours.

Individual will serve as the first responder in emergency situations and must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for those not currently certified.

Prior leadership experience required. Prior experience supervising peers a plus.

Responsible for providing a high level of customer service while supervising all fitness areas, enforcing policies and procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patrons, and providing member satisfaction during all shifts. Provide information concerning safety and usage of the facility and equipment, as well as all programs and services, and lead facility tours and equipment orientations.

Serve as the main point of contact for all Gassett Fitness Center patrons. Responsible for providing superior customer service by greeting all members and determining membership eligibility for all individuals entering the Gassett Fitness Center. Provide patrons with information regarding programs and services, assist with program registration and complete departmental filing and data entry.  Also responsible for equipment check-out.

Individuals must have a thorough knowledge of all areas of Campus Life and Recreation and Salem State University in order to provide information to students, faculty, staff and guests who wish to use the Gassett Fitness Center. Prior customer service experience a plus.

Individual must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for those not currently certified.

Work with Gassett Fitness Center members of various age, gender and ability levels. Instructors must hold a nationally accredited group exercise certification and lead a variety of classes including, but not limited to, Total Body Conditioning, Bootcamp, Core, Step, and other formats. Specialty certifications are required for individuals interested in leading Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and any other format requiring specialized training. In this group setting, instructors are required to motivate and educate class participants on proper exercise techniques. Instructors design and implement safe and effective group classes, provide a motivating and enjoyable environment and assist participants with equipment set-up and use. Classes must be safe and effective for all fitness levels with intensity modifications provided as necessary. All instructors must implement proper curing and injury prevention practices.

A nationally accredited Group Fitness and/or specialty certification is required. All instructors must also hold and maintain current CPR/AED Certifications.

Dedicated to providing high quality supervision and administration for men's, women's, co-rec, individual, dual and team sports. Individual will play a critical role in activity and game day supervision and administration. Individual will also ensure esports tournaments run smoothly and that all rules and regulations are adhered to. Individuals must demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making skills as well as conflict resolution, communication, teamwork and appropriate conduct.

This position is physically active and sport and/or officiating experience is preferred although not required. Training will be provided for all sports that an individual is hired to officiate. Experience and passion playing esports is preferred, but not required.

Individual must be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. In-house training will be provided for those not currently certified.

Assists in the supervision and administration of the intramural sports and esports program. Oversees matters related to the operation of all intramural and esports activities. Must have a thorough knowledge of all intramural sports offered by the Department of Campus Life and Recreation as well as the entire intramural sports and esports program and handbook. 

Individual will oversee all intramural and esports activities and events sponsored by the department, respond to accidents, injuries and emergencies, complete appropriate paperwork and enforce departmental and university policies to all participants. Must possess strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills and be able to work a flexible schedule. Experience and passion playing esports is preferred, but not required. Position requires late evening and weekend hours.

Greet all who enter the campus center.  Individual should be aware of the Campus Center daily schedule, operations, and offices located within the Ellison Campus Center, so they are able to direct individuals to their desired destinations and answer questions as thoroughly as possible.  Assist with ticket sales for various student organization and department events.

Assist with administrative functions of an office. Previous relevant work experience required. Assist with special projects, keep accurate records, prepare budget records, plan departmental activities, prepare publication materials including newsletters and assist with department events. Complete departmental filing, data entry and membership management.

Assists in providing guests with the set-up and tech needs that are requested for the various spaces that the campus community can book within department managed spaces.

Responsible for attending Campus Life and Recreation programs and events to capture images and/or video. Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to attend special events and competitions during evenings and weekends. Must have own equipment and be proficient in Photoshop or other editing software. Individual must have good time management with the ability to edit and submit photos to Campus Life and Recreation professional staff in a timely manner. Work will be used for website, flyers/advertisements, media and print advertisements.

Will assist the Gassett Fitness Center in the management, design and implementation of fitness and wellness programs, workshops and events. Candidate will lead workshops and other programs as assigned including, but not limited to, training programs ("Couch to 5k, Triathlon), special events, promotions, outreach and incentive programs.

Prior experience in a fitness center and experience leading workshops and programs. Sport & Movement Science students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Assists with administrative functions of the office to include, but not limited to, answering phones, welcoming guests, and reviewing and confirming reservations in the campus scheduling system 25Live. Assist with Information desk responsibilities in their absence.

Provide administrative support and resources that will assist the Campus Life and Recreation department in meeting its mission. This role will support various student organizations in planning and organizing their events across campus, will monitor event requests through Presence and 25Live, and will assist with the office’s walk-in traffic. The student(s) in this role will also assist professional staff with the execution of various programs and events run by the department, and may take part in event set-up, breakdown, and check-in. In addition, this role will help the Campus Life and Recreation team to effectively market and promote events and initiatives through various avenues, with an emphasis on social media engagement. Events and other obligations require flexibility to work a variety of hours including weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends. Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator, capable of engaging effectively and positively through face-to-face interactions, emails, social media posts, and other marketing and promotional channels as needed.
