    Welcome to Salem State Orientation!

    Transfer students will have the option to choose their orientation experience! Students will choose either an in-person orientation or a fully online orientation.

    If you are a Continuing Education (CE) student, you should not sign up for orientation. Instead, contact Samantha "Sam" Cosentino, student success specialist, at scosentino@salemstate.edu.

    *Orientation is required for all new students.

    At orientation you'll get to know your fellow students, faculty and staff who will be with you on your journey.

Summer Orientation

Summer orientation for transfer students will take place on Tuesday, June 11. Registration will open in early March via your Navigator account.

2. Sign up for your orientation

All transfer students are required to attend an orientation program where you will:

  • Register for classes
  • Learn about campus programs and services
  • Meet friends and begin your adventure as a new student!

Please note, guests and nonstudents are not able to attend with you. If you require accommodations, please contact disability services at disability-services@salemstate.edu or 978.542.6217 (TTY: 978.542.7146) no later than January 3.

3. Log in to your Salem State Email

Once you pay your enrollment deposit and sign up for orientation you'll also have access your Salem State email. To log in you should use the same username and password as your Navigator account. First time users must click "FORGOT PASSWORD" in order to set your password.

Email is the official method of communication at Salem State. We recommend you check your account regularly to ensure you don't miss anything.

Online Orientation

For students who have selected the fully online orientation, you will be enrolled in a Canvas course that must be completed prior to meeting with an advisor to register for classes. Please allow 48-hours after signing up to see the course on your Canvas homepage. More information is sent directly to your Salem State email.

There will be different sections of the orientation that need to be completed both before your faculty advising appointment for class registration and before actual classes begin. More details are located within the Canvas course.
