Apply to the Community of Inclusive Scholars

Eligibility

Students eligible to join the Community of Inclusive Scholars are those with severe disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism. They have a range of IQ scores.

CIS students are most successful when participation in the dream of the student, not only the parent.

  • A basic mathematical understanding and ability to use a calculator
  • Some reading/written language ability
  • A means of independent communication
  • Demonstrated ability to access accommodations/other instructional supports in a high school general education
  • Demonstrated the ability to function independently for sustained periods of time.
  • Can handle changes in routine; can be flexible in unstructured situations.
  • Emotional maturity.
  • Can utilize supports independently
  • Seeks social age opportunities
  • Does not require behavioral supports/plan for inclusion in the general education environment
