Eligibility
Students eligible to join the Community of Inclusive Scholars are those with severe disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism. They have a range of IQ scores.
CIS students are most successful when participation in the dream of the student, not only the parent.
- A basic mathematical understanding and ability to use a calculator
- Some reading/written language ability
- A means of independent communication
- Demonstrated ability to access accommodations/other instructional supports in a high school general education
- Demonstrated the ability to function independently for sustained periods of time.
- Can handle changes in routine; can be flexible in unstructured situations.
- Emotional maturity.
- Can utilize supports independently
- Seeks social age opportunities
- Does not require behavioral supports/plan for inclusion in the general education environment
