Community of Inclusive Scholars (CIS), students enroll in two university courses for both fall and spring semesters.
All first-year, first-semester students are enrolled as audit students; then they can either continue to audit courses or take them for credit.

Students also participate in weekly seminars on career awareness, travel safety, financial literacy and independent living skills.
Accommodations and Supports
CIS students can register with the Center for Accessible Academic Resources (CAAR) for accommodations in the classroom. In addition, they have access to Salem State’s academic support through the Writing Center, Math Lab, Peer Tutors and Career Services.
Students schedule weekly meetings with their Executive Functioning Coach as a “guide on the side”. Coaches help scholars develop skills like self-monitoring, time management, task initiation and study skills.
