Berry Institute of Politics: Speakers and Forums

The Frederick E. Berry Institute of Politics aims to engage, educate, and inspire the Salem State and North Shore communities through political speakers and forums. These nonpartisan events will address current social, political, economic, and environmental issues facing our communities by bringing policymakers, political leaders, and public officials to campus. From large scale lectures to intimate meet-and-greets, the Berry IOP has opportunities for all students and community members interested in politics and public service.

• Candidate forums for local and statewide office
• Conversation with CNN’s Abby Phillip on the future of our democracy
• What It Means to Be a Conservative Today and the Future of the Republican Party with Steve Schmidt
• Salem Town Hall with Congressman Seth Moulton
• Forums about local and statewide Ballot Questions
• Annual Constitution Day events co-sponsored with the politics, policy and international relations department which covers topics such as the commemoration of the 19th Amendment, debriefing recent Supreme Court decisions, defending voting rights amid COVID-19, and more.
