Housing Selection Process: For First Year and Transfer Students

Each spring Residence Life offers new students the opportunity to select their own housing assignment during the annual housing selection process. New students who are interested in living on campus must complete all the steps detailed here to be eligible to participate in our housing selection process.

Housing Deposits

Students interested in living on campus must pay their housing deposit through their Navigator account.

Fall Housing Application

All students who wish to live on campus for the 2022-23 academic year are required to complete the online housing application on Salem State's Housing Portal. The housing application and personal details form will be available on May 1. 

Please note: You must pay your $300 housing deposit in order to participate in the housing selection process.

Roommate Matching  

All students who have completed the Housing Application are encouraged to match with other students to form roommate groups.  

Please note: Students will be required to fill all the available spaces in their desired room. The total number of students in your roommate group must equal the number of spaces available in your desired room, suite, or apartment.

Housing Selection

Students will select their own assignment at their assigned time on their housing portal.

Transfer Students

Incoming transfer students will be assigned to available upperclassmen spaces by the residence life housing team by July 5.
