Residence life at Salem State is committed to providing an inclusive, comfortable environment for all of our students. Gender-inclusive housing at Salem State is a living option within our residence halls where student housing is not limited by gender. Students living in gender-inclusive housing can select or be assigned suitemates regardless of gender or sex. Students who wish to live in gender-inclusive housing should indicate their interest in their Housing Application. Indicating interest will only allow students to match with roommate/s who have also indicated an interest in Gender Inclusive Housing.
All of our first-year housing options have gender-inclusive restrooms with private showers on each floor. First-year students who indicate interest in Gender Inclusive Housing can select their own roommates, regardless of sex or gender identity, or speak with residence life and we will assign you to space with roommates that are also seeking gender-inclusive housing.
Upper-class students should indicate their interest in Gender Inclusive Housing on their application on their Housing Portal and create a group of suitemates that have also selected gender-inclusive housing.
