Community Involvement provides student participants in any academic discipline the opportunity to earn academic credit in exchange for community service. Community Involvement is designed to expose students to real-life sociology, so that students can apply their sociological understanding to a social problem and practice sociology in the field.
The sociology club at Salem State is a student-organized and student-run body composed of sociology majors and those with a serious interest in sociology. It is designed to provide an informal atmosphere for discussion within academic and social settings. Guest speakers, career workshops, field trips, and pertinent social issues are important areas of interest for the club. The sociology club is governed and directed by sociology students. Officers are elected in the spring of each year. A faculty advisor is also elected at that time.
