History Alumnus Brian Sheehy Named Organization of American Historians (OAH) National Teacher of the Year

The Organization of American Historians (OAH) has named Salem State alumnus Brian Sheehy '09G (MAT, history) the Mary K. Bonsteel Tachau Teacher of the Year Award. According to the OAH, the award recognizes the contributions made by precollegiate teachers to improve history education within the field of American history.

Sheehy is the history department coordinator at North Andover High School, where he teaches AP European History, World Civilization, U.S. History, Global Thought, and Sports in American Culture.

The OAH, the largest professional society dedicated to the teaching and study of American history, selected Sheehy among thousands of high school history teachers across the country — he is only the second Massachusetts-based high school history teacher to receive this award in its 15-year history.
