Collins Observatory

Salem State University's Collins Observatory features a 12" Classical Cassegrain/Newtonian telescope. The observatory is accessible from the elevator located at the rear of Meier Hall, closest to the quad. Press level “P” for planetarium and follow signs to the observatory.

The observatory is open to the general public on Mondays from 7 pm to 10 pm, except for university holidays and cloudy nights.

Weather cancellations will be posted day-of to the Observatory Status page of the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club.

Collins Observatory Schedule 

Salem State University has recently switched to a mask-flexible campus policy. Dome occupancy is 20 visitors at a time. Masks are still recommended but no longer required. We are continually adapting our operations in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Occasional live streams can be viewed via the Collins Observatory YouTube Channel.
