Week long Events: 

Student Success Series Workshops

Are you a student interested in building skills and enhancing strategies related to academic success? Do you need a little bit of guidance and support around a particular academic success topic? Attend a Student Success Series Workshop (via Zoom) happening all this week at a variety of times.

Monday, March 23

Ask a Dietitian - 3:30-5:30 pm

Campus Life and Recreation/Gassett Fitness Center is partnering with your campus dietitian Olivia to offer advice and sample healthy snacks! 

Stop by at the time most convenient for you between 3:30-5:30 pm to ask about any diet and health related questions. No need to pre-register.

Beyond the Clinic: Creating Safe, Equitable Care for Immigrant Communities - 5-7 pm

Join us online via Zoom for a panel discussion to equip healthcare students and profesionals with the knowledge and advocacy skills to create accessible, culturally responsive care spaces for immigrant communities.

 

Tuesday, March 24

Fitness Challenge - Pullups - 11 am-7 pm

Stop by the front desk at the Gassett Fitness Center between 11 am and 7 pm to compete against your peers on the Pullup challenge! Person who completes the most pullups wins a Fitness Challenge T-shirt! No registration needed - active membership required.

ABCs of Immigration and UndocuAlly Training - 12-1:15 pm

Join us for an introductory workshop for students, faculty, staff, and community members interested in understanding how immigration policies impact our community!

Wednesday, March 25

Restoring Dignity and Quality of Life through Guaranteed Basic Income Programs - 12:15-1:30 pm

Panel with Professors Thomas Piñeros Shields (Politics, Policy and International Relations), Sara Moore (Sociology) and Sarah Roy (City of Salem), and members of Uplift Salem Program.

Money Matters | Financial March Madness - 5-7 pm

Form a team of 2-4 and come test your knowledge on personal finance! Teams will be placed in brackets and compete against each other while answering questions in a fast- paced game. Each winning team member from the winning team will enter the Nav Center Cash Cube and win ClipperCash! Come have some fun while expanding your knowledge. 

The Mental Health Impact of Adaptive Sports - 5-7 pm

This hands-on event offers students from multiple disciplines the opportunity to learn about the mental, physical and social impact of adaptive sports. Come engage with professional athletes, and experience whelchair football firsthand while fostering interprofessional collaboration and understanding.

March Civic Dinner: Economic Justice - 7-9 pm

Please join us for an evening of food, networking, and learning from local advocates engaged in addressing economic justice. Leaders will share with us information about their role in this advocacy work, provide insight on resources and relevant legislation, and share their current advocacy efforts. They will also provide feedback on how students can be effective advocates for this important social issue.

Thursday, March 26

Speak Now, Speakeasy - 6-9 pm

The Center for Civic Engagement, Center for Performing and Creative Arts, and Frederick E. Berry Library invites you to our Speakeasy! Whether you take the mic or take a seat, take part in transforming our shared space into an unapologetic speakeasy rooted in collective resistance and empowerment. Grounded in expression and liberating creativity, this storytelling space invites people to engage in thought provoking dialogue as their most authentic self. Fun, engaging, and casual, our speakeasy celebrates the strength of community and art as a tool for healing.

Salem State Music Faculty Recital - 7:30-9 pm

Members of the Salem State music faculty present a spring recital. This concert is always an eclectic mix of styles and genres. Faculty performing include: Jean Danton, Steve Lacey, Cyndi Napierkowski, Beverly Soll, Robb Taylor, Eileen Yarrison, Holly Zagaria, and the faculty Saxophone Quartet. 

Admission is free. No advance reservation required. Goodwill offerings at the door are welcome to support the work of the department.
