Horace Mann Renovation Update
At Horace Mann, structural work continues including the installation of columns, beams, steel channels and frames. Underground utility work continues. Selective brick and roof parapet demolition continues as does lintel abatement as needed. Learn more about the Horace Mann Renovation.
Meier Hall Addition
At the Meier Hall addition, foundation work continues. Steel decking and detailing work is ongoing. Prep work for slab pouring on deck is commencing.
The bridge connections from the new addition to the existing Meier Hall are taking shape! The construction manager will make the physical connections to the Meier Building this summer. In addition, they will also work on installing a fire curtain at specific corridor and stairwell areas. Mobilization will begin during the week of May 18 followed by mechanical make safe work, abatement, demolition of windows and walls (to make way for the new bridge connections), and installation of temporary partitions. Decarbonization Project Update
Drilling, looping and grouting for the project's geothermal wells continues. Sloping and grading work continues at the Meier Hall parking lot site along College Drive.
The Meier Hall faculty and staff parking lots continue to be closed for construction. For the closest handicap/accessible parking, options include the North Campus Parking Garage, the Ellison Campus Center, or in front of the Sullivan and Administration Buildings. The construction manager is preparing to complete additional subsurface borings at various campus locations where future piping distribution work is anticipated. These subsurface boring locations will be marked by the contractor on Wednesday, May 13. The drilling for the borings is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, May 19 and take less than a week to complete.
Interior demolition within the Central Utility Plant continues. Starting this week, the existing concrete floor will be demolished. This work will be loud at times and likely heard by building occupants within the Administration Building and Sophia Gordon. Learn more about the Decarbonization Project.
