Join us this spring for the Maguire Meservey College of Health and Human Services interprofessional event series!

All students from the MMCHHS and other departments outside of the college are invited to participate. These events include in-person case-based experiences and case simulations, interprofessional clinical experiences, and virtual expert community panels which focus on health disparities, public health programming, and policy. 

Online event registrants will receive a Zoom link prior to the event.

"Hear You Rise"

Jonathan Ozek: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocate, Founder of Hear You Rise Foundation Inc., Accessibility and Communication Consultant and Salem State Alumnus

The Hear You Rise Foundation and movement focuses on hearing loss awareness, advocacy, and support, connecting people to resources, promoting accessibility, and empowering the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing community. Keeping communication accessible is an ongoing effort. The goal is straightforward: design spaces and practices so that everyone can understand, be understood, and fully take part.

The Mental Health Impact of Adaptive Sports: Professional Wheelchair Football Experience with the Rolling Patriots

This hands-on event offers students from multiple disciplines the opportunity to learn about the mental, physical and social impact of adaptive sports. Come engage with professional athletes, and experience wheelchair football firsthand while fostering interprofessional collaboration and understanding.

Low Vision, Full Lives: Creating Accessible Environments for All Ages

Join Dr. Micaela Gobeille, low vision optometrist, and Elliot Feldman, Managing Director of Visions of Independence, as they share practical strategies for creating accessible environments that empower individuals with low vision. Drawing from their extensive community and home-based work, they'll demonstrate how thoughtful modifications and supportive interventions can help people of all ages maintain independence, safety, and quality of life despite visual challenges.
