What made you choose Salem State, and what is one thing a prospective student should know about our campus community?

I chose Salem State for its affordability and atmosphere. If you are looking for a medium-to-small campus with a flexible schedule and plenty of time for extracurriculars, this is a great place to be.

Once you got to campus, what made you say, "This is the place for me?"

Everything really clicked when I got involved in the arts. Finding something you are passionate about and connecting with people who share that passion makes the transition into college much more meaningful.

What made you choose your major? What about your area of study ignites your passion?

I was drawn in by the strength of the theatre department and the conversations I had with professors. Their passion and support made it clear this was the right path for me.

Do you live on campus or commute? If you live on campus, what have you enjoyed most about your experience? If you commute, how have you stayed engaged with the campus community?

I have lived on campus as a resident assistant for four years, moving between Marsh Hall and Charlotte Forten Hall. Being on campus has made it easy to stay connected and involved in everything happening around me.

How have you grown as a person during your college experience?

I have grown more confident in my creative abilities and more open to interpretation and change. At the same time, I have learned that growth is ongoing and there is always more to explore and develop.

Can you describe a challenge that you overcame at Salem State?

As a first-year student, social anxiety made it difficult to form connections. Over time, I learned the value of putting myself out there, trying new things and getting involved in clubs and activities.

Could you discuss the relationships you've developed with faculty members and how these relationships have influenced your learning and personal growth?

The theatre faculty have been incredibly supportive and engaged in helping students grow. They create a space where you feel heard, encouraged and able to be yourself, which has had a lasting impact on my development.

Can you describe the educational value and affordability you've experienced at Salem State University? How has the university supported your academic journey regarding quality and accessibility?

Salem State offers strong scholarship opportunities, and being a resident assistant has also helped make my education more affordable. That support has made a meaningful difference in my experience.

Salem State emphasizes hands-on learning experiences. Can you share any memorable experiences where you've applied classroom knowledge in real-world settings or through projects?

Theatre is inherently hands-on. From workshopping monologues and scenes to building sets and costumes, I have been able to actively apply what I learn in class. That practical experience is balanced by courses such as script analysis and theatre history, creating a well-rounded education.

What are your post-graduation plans, and how do you believe your time at Salem State has equipped you for success in pursuing these plans?

I plan to pursue an MFA in acting at the University of Surrey and continue growing Constellations Stage Company, a theatre nonprofit I co-founded with fellow Salem State alumni. My time here has prepared me, both creatively and professionally, for the next step.
