SALEM, MASS. – Salem State University is proud to announce that David R. Masse ’86, a business leader, entrepreneur and Salem State graduate, will serve as the honorary degree recipient and commencement speaker for the Bertolon School of Business this May.
Masse, founder and chief executive officer of AAM15 Management and Georgetown Capital Management, will address graduates during the Bertolon School of Business commencement exercises on Friday, May 15 at 3 pm. The ceremony is part of Salem State’s commencement weekend, which includes additional exercises on the mornings of Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.
Masse leads AAM15 Management, a private equity investment firm with a portfolio including hotels, multifamily communities, student housing, and the legendary Kelly’s Roast Beef brand, acquired in 2025. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into a diversified organization that not only invests in real estate, but also operates businesses that create jobs, support local economies and contribute to the communities they serve.
Over the course of his career, Masse has secured more than $500 million in capital and has been involved in more than $4 billion in real estate transactions across a wide range of asset classes. He is recognized for his strategic leadership, operational expertise, and ability to execute complex investment initiatives.
Salem State University President John Keenan said Masse’s professional journey “embodies the core principles of Salem State University: lifelong learning, leadership in service of the public good and a belief in the power of community.”
“As an alum, he has remained connected to the university’s mission and serves as an example of how a Salem State education can be the foundation for meaningful, impactful work,” Keenan said. “He has been recognized throughout his career for entrepreneurship, civic engagement and industry leadership. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is committed to philanthropy and community service, supporting organizations focused on education, youth development and economic opportunity.”
