What made you choose Salem State?
I chose Salem State because it has so much diversity, a supportive education program and sports. I knew I wanted to be somewhere in Massachusetts near some of my extended family, but also not too expensive.
What are three words you would use to describe the Viking community? Why?
I would use the words supportive, diverse and welcoming to describe the Viking community because that is what I noticed and felt when I visited Salem State for the first time.
What is one thing you think a prospective student should know about Salem State?
There is a tunnel that connects Sullivan, the Sophia Gordon Theater, the North Campus Dining Hall and the Administrative Building. It’s perfect to use if it is raining, snowing or if you don’t feel like walking outside.
What have you done at Salem State that you are most proud of?
So far, I am most proud of making the dean’s list every winter and spring, as well as learning about education and working in the admissions office.
How would you describe the professors at Salem State?
They want to help you succeed in their class and encourage students to ask questions.

MAT103: Math for Liberal Arts

ENL 306: Grammar and Style
These classes have not only been fun but also taught me some things I know I will remember for a long time and use in my career.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite places on campus are O’Keefe Center, Berry Library and the dining halls. All three places provide just the right amount of background noise to help me study. They also have comfortable seating, perfect for hanging out.
What is your favorite memory at Salem State?
Playing volleyball with my team, enjoying the sport and becoming a better athlete.
Do you live in a residence hall or commute? What has been your favorite part about living on campus or commuting?
I lived in Marsh Hall my freshman year. I loved being able to go to Marsh Dining Hall anytime. As a commuter now, I enjoy having a consistent work-life balance.
How do you feel Salem State has helped you get career-ready?
I feel like Salem State has helped me get career-ready by exposing me to the field and providing opportunities to gain experience.
