What made you choose Salem State?
I chose Salem State because of its small class sizes and the care and dedication it shows to its students. I also chose it because of its commitment to students and their futures, providing resources and additional support to help them succeed.

What are three words you would use to describe the Viking community? Why?
Dedicated, caring and understanding.

What is one thing you think a prospective student should know about Salem State?
Salem State will never let you feel like just a number. Every student is seen as a person and supported as an individual, not defined by where they come from or who their family is.

What have you done at Salem State that you are most proud of?
I have participated in many art galleries, helped build multiple clubs, and am starting my dream career as a junior.

How would you describe the professors at Salem State?
They are so caring, intelligent and understanding. Many of them will go out of their way to ensure their students understand the material so they can be the best people they can be.

What has been your favorite class to take?
Non-representational painting with Mark Malloy. He taught me to be a true and authentic artist, and that art is not all about the past but also about emotions, politics and movement.

What is your favorite place on campus?
I absolutely love the art studio on the third floor of Meier Hall, especially the painting studio. I have met my best friends there and deepened my love of painting.

What is your favorite memory at Salem State?
My favorite memory is meeting my boyfriend in the laundry room of Marsh Hall. It felt like a scene in a silly rom-com. It was probably the most universal college experience I’ve ever had.

Do you live in a residence hall or commute? What has been your favorite part about living on campus or commuting?
I live in a residence hall, and I really like being close to my classes, but I also like the feeling of being independent.

How do you feel Salem State has helped you get career-ready?
I feel that Salem State has given me everything I have ever needed and more to be who I am destined to be. It taught me how to be a good interviewee, how to make my own resume, how to talk to future employers and even future clients. It has made me feel drastically more confident in myself.
