Frequently Asked Questions

I am a commuter student. Where do I purchase my parking decal?

Commuter students must sign into their Navigator account and click on the Parking Permit Request link to access the parking decal web store.

I am a resident student. Am I eligible to park on campus?

Only resident students who entered the parking lottery and were granted a decal are eligible to park on campus. If you missed the lottery and feel you have an extreme case that warrants review, there is a waiting list available. To access, you must sign into your Navigator account and click on the Parking Permit Waitlist link. All cases will be reviewed by Salem State administration. Application to the waitlist does not guarantee you will receive a decal.

I want to return my parking decal. What is your refund policy?

By default, Salem State University does not offer refunds for parking decals. However, the University also understands that there can occasionally be unique situations that require further review. If you feel your situation qualifies; please download, complete, and email a copy of this form to for review.

How do I access the North Campus Parking Garage?

The parking garage is open to Commuter students and select North campus residents only. Access is granted via your Salem State ClipperCard, and should work automatically once you arrive on campus. If you have issues with your access, please email

I am an employee. Where do I purchase my parking decal?

Employees must sign in to their Polaris account. From there, click on Launchpad, and then Parking Permit Request.

I have a new vehicle, how can I update my information in your system?

Please email with your decal number and the information of your new vehicle. If you are able to successfully transfer your decal to your new vehicle, you may do so. If you require a replacement sticker, you must visit the University Police department during our above hours. The cost for a replacement sticker is $5 and is payable by Check or ClipperCash only.

I have a parking ticket, and I would like to pay/appeal it. What are my options?

All payments or appeals must be done online.

Is parking overnight on campus allowed?

Parking within university parking lots overnight is authorized for permitted resident students only or by temporary permit issued by the university police. Those resident students with authorized resident student permits may park overnight within designated lots. No other vehicles may be parked within university lots overnight. Unless otherwise specified overnight means the hours between 3 am and 6 am. These hours may be amended or extended during special events or during final exam periods when university facility hours are extended.

Any vehicle, other than a permitted resident student vehicle, parked overnight in a university lot is subject to ticketing and towing. Other students, including commuter students, can obtain a temporary one-day permit for overnight parking. Temporary one-day permits are issued by the university police and can be obtained by visiting the university police department.

Resident students having overnight guests park on campus must ensure that the guest obtains a temporary overnight parking permit.

Commuter students, non-authorized resident students, visitors and guests are not allowed to obtain a temporary permit on multiple consecutive days in an effort to circumvent the overnight parking restriction.

University police reserve the right to deny temporary overnight permits.
