Welcome Employers!

Ways to Engage

We are happy to work with you to offer both in-person and virtual recruitment opportunities

Handshake

Handshake enables recruiters to only need one log-in to post with over 400 schools and reach over 8,000,000 students – simplifying the job posting process.

All current students and recent alumni have access to the database. We highly encourage our employer partners to post any full-time positions that require a degree and internships on Handshake.

Please register your Handshake account. Once you have completed the registration tasks, we will be able to verify and approve your account. After we have done so, you will be alerted via e-mail and will be able to log in and manage all of your full-time job and internship postings.

Some faculty members are happy to invite employer partners into their classrooms for either a 15-20 minute presentation or an hour-long presentation. If interested, please fill out our inquiry form.

Our team will contact the appropriate faculty to determine if an employer presentation is feasible based on timing and their syllabus.

If interested, please email career@salemstate.edu or call 978.542.6406. Thank you for your consideration and support for our Vikings!

Student Employment Fair (Fall)

The Student Employment Fair is typically held in early September. Attending this fair is a great way to increase brand awareness, interact with hundreds of students and showcase various types of local part-time employment, volunteer and internship opportunities. This event is open to all majors and class years. Registration information will be available on Handshake.

Meet the Firms Night (Fall)

Meet the Firms Night is typically held in mid-to-late September. Attending Meet the Firms Night is a great opportunity to recruit talented accounting, finance and economics students in a more intimate setting than the larger Job and Internship Fair.

Students attending the fair will be of all class levels and will be seeking internships and full-time positions. Registration information will be available on Handshake.

Job and Internship Fair (Spring)

Held each year in late February or early March, the Job and Internship Fair at Salem State University is Career Services’ premier Spring Career event, with the most attendees and the broadest number of majors attending.

First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are strongly encouraged to attend, so please expect all levels of career preparedness and take this opportunity to connect early with young professionals! Registration information will be available on Handshake.

The Salem State Career Closet provides our students with access to new and gently used professional attire. All students are welcome to attend the event and encouraged to take the items they need at no cost. We wouldn’t be able to offer this opportunity without the much-appreciated support of our community and partners, if you would like to support this initiative please consider making a professional attire or monetary donation.

Please email career@salemstate.edu or call 978.542.6406 for more information.

Each year, in preparation for Meet the Firms Night and Job and Internship Fair we host a Resume Review Night to help our students better prepare their resumes. Resume Review Night is an opportunity to meet with our students ahead of time, review their resumes, and offer suggestions in preparation for the larger events.

There will be an opportunity to share your recruitment materials with students as well.

Practice and thorough preparation are key to a successful interview. Assist our students in preparing for their next effective interview by offering them feedback and sharing your expertise on what hiring managers look for in a great candidate.
