Dr. Robert E. Briney was a member of the Salem State College faculty from 1968 through his retirement in 2008. He was a faculty member of the Mathematics Department until 1977 prior to becoming the chair of Salem State’s Computer Science (CS) department. He then served as the chair of the CS department for four terms. He was the principal author of the proposal that led to the establishment of Computer Science major in 1984. He made significant contributions to the major’s curriculum development and to ABET accreditation up to his retirement.
