With funding from Cummings Foundation, the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies offers study and travel institutes to international sites related to the Holocaust, genocide and human rights abuses. The travel is generally during March university break or the April Massachusetts public school break and the summer holidays. With support from generous donors, the center is sponsoring three separate trips during 2017:
June 2017 - Rwanda
The culture and history of Rwanda will be explored with particular attention to societal changes in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide. The institute includes travel to Rwanda and stays in the capital city of Kigali and the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village. pre-and-post-travel seminars. July 2017 - Central Europe
Join Professors Chris Mauriello (History) and Steve Matchak (Geography) for a study and travel institute on World War II and the Holocaust in Central Europe. Two days of seminar will focus on select themes followed by 12 days of travel to visit and learn from historical sites in Berlin, Dresden, Theresienstadt, Prague, Brno and Budapest.
