First Year Day of Service. 8 am-5 pm
Incoming first-year students and new transfers who reserved a spot will participate in several service projects throughout the day. Students should check their email for details or contact First Year Experience with questions.
Tuesday, September 1
Art + Design Faculty Showcase 10am-4 pm
This annual event features the work of faculty from within Salem State University’s nationally accredited art + design department. Works by both full-time and adjunct studio faculty in printmaking, painting, design, sculpture, photography and various other media are exhibited.
Wednesday, September 2
The Gassett Fitness Center offers weekly group exercise classes as a benefit of your membership which is covered by student fees for registered students and as a benefit of employment for university employees. Our nationally certified instructors are here to welcome you to class and to motivate, encourage, and challenge you – helping you achieve much more than on your own. Fall classes run from 9/2-12/3.

Global Prints - 8:30 am-5 pm
Come decorate your dorm room with a poster from Global Prints
Credit for Life Fair - 10 am-12 pm
Credit for Life is an interactive event where students choose careers and take on the role of a professional earning a paycheck. Students use their monthly 'salaries', 'credit cards', and 'savings accounts' to live their lives - purchasing clothing and groceries, renting or buying a home, deciding between a new or used car - while occasionally coming across an unexpected expense or a nice bonus, just like real life!
CJL Welcome Back BBQ - 6-8 pm
Come meet the staff of the Center for Justice and Liberation (CJL) and connect with our student leaders to:
- Learn about identity-based events and programs at SSU
- Join a cultural student organization
- Find a welcoming and inclusive community
Live music provided by DJ Fuerto!

Friday, September 4
Blacklight Dodgeball - 7:15-11:30 pm
Teams of 6-10 players compete under the glow of the blacklights to determine a champion! Pile up wins to advance your way through the tournament bracket. Neon t-shirts and glow materials are provided. Guests over 18 are free with valid photo ID.
Check-in begins at 7:15 pm and games will begin at 8 pm!
