Viking Valentines: Chris Lawrence ’16 and Cheryl Goodney ’16, ‘18G

Chris Lawrence ’16 and Cheryl Goodney ’16, ‘18G met at Salem State while Chris was a commuter student and Cheryl lived on campus. These Viking alum are going strong seven years later!

“Being a commuter student, Chris wanted to make sure that he was immersing himself into on-campus activities such as various groups and clubs on campus so he wouldn't simply arrive to campus, go to class and go home,” Cheryl explains.

“Because of his involvement in various Welcome Week activities, as well as having attended orientation, Chris and I, unknowingly, had made mutual friends. One warm, sunny, Monday afternoon in September, I walked out of my residence hall and saw a few of my friends at a table in front of Bowditch Hall with one man I did not know. We were introduced to one another that day, got to know each other over the next month and a half, and on November 2, he asked me if I'd do him the honor of being his girlfriend. Seven years later, we're still going strong and we even have a dog named Mia together!”
