Upcoming Changes to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Settings

Letter to campus regarding MFA

Dear Campus Community,

We have heard the challenges and concerns related to the MFA system, particularly regarding the of MFA login requirements. We are pleased to announce that we will be making some significant changes to the MFA settings to provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience next week for all our employees.

These changes are being implemented with the goal of maintaining a high level of security while reducing the friction you may have encountered when using MFA.

These changes will allow you to utilize your mobile phone and Microsoft applications without having to pass MFA every three days. These changes will apply to both your personal computer and your mobile devices when using the Microsoft applications. Users using a web browser to access their Microsoft O365 applications for Microsoft will still need to pass MFA routinely.

These changes will meet our insurance and state security requirements and will keep your account and information secure. We have been testing this within ITS and some campus partners over the last week and the positive changes are significant.

Sincerely,

Steve Swartz
