Virtual Graduate Open House

Join us online for the School of Graduate Studies virtual open house, including graduate financial aid and admissions Q&A, major specific information sessions, and student panels.

Salem State's Earth Day Celebration

The earth day celebration runs Monday, April 8 through Friday, April 12. The theme is "Climate Crisis: Actions for a Just and Livable World.” Events include Minigolf, research poster competition, beach and trail clean up’s, panels, awards and so much more.

Color the Viking-Spring Edition

Show off your school spirit by coloring in our giant Superfan drawing at the Ellison campus center! Art supplies will be provided.

The Winfisky Gallery – Honors Exhibition

The Winfisky Gallery is hosting an honors exhibition featuring art from Emily Grace. Emily is a senior from Gloucester, Massachusetts. Her painting exhibition "Daydream" has been months in the making and will be on view in the Winfisky Gallery from April, 8 - 19.

Artist talk and reception with be held on Wednesday, April 10.

 

Monday, April 8

 

Final Business Pitch Event I 4 pm

The Viking Pitch Competition invites students from throughout the university to present their new business ideas to a panel of private equity partners and entrepreneurs and compete to win cash awards to help start their businesses.

Eclipse at the Observatory I 3-4 pm

We will host a variety of safe viewing options for the Solar Eclipse at the Observatory and on the roof of Meier Hall. Note - It is NEVER safe to look a the Sun directly; doing so will result in permanent damage to your eyes.  

Safe viewing methods available will include: 

  • Certified Solar Eclipse Glasses which cut down 99.999% of light (limited # of pairs available)
  • Solar projections via pinhole cameras (DIY stations with instructions and some built models available)
  • Off-axis solar filter on the observatory's 12" Meade LX200 ACF telescope
  • Solar projection from a telescope/binoculars onto a screen

 

Ask a Physical Therapist I 5-7 pm

Campus Life and Recreation and the Gassett Fitness Center have partnered with a local physical therapist every month to offer students free advice! Students can stop by between 5-7 pm to get their questions answered.

No need to pre-register.

 

Tuesday, April 9

 

NFL Combine – Fitness Testing I All Day

Join the Gassett Fitness Center to test your skills and see how you compare to professional athletes! Included will be the 40-yard dash (limited availability), the vertical jump, bench press, three-cone drill, and the 60-yard shuttle.

No pre-registration is required.
 

Student Panel – Transitioning to Sophomore Year I 5:30-7:30 pm

Panelists include Sophomore students who are STEP Peer Mentors and Alpha Omega Psi eboard members.

Calisthenics at Gassett Fitness Center I 11 am - 7 pm

Put your strength to the test with our calisthenics challenge - How many unbroken reps of push-ups and pull-ups can you do? Stop by Gassett Fitness Center and put your skills to the test.
 

Pot a Plant with Campus Life and Rec I 12-2 pm

Campus Life and Recreation has partnered with a local vendor, Roses and Thistle, to bring you Pot a Plant. Stop by to select your planter and choose from a variety of plants. Available while supplies last at Marsh Hall.
 

The Tenth Annual Sheila P. Kearney ’54, ‘67G Educators Pinning Ceremony I 6-9 pm

Join Alumni relations as they Meet the Moment and celebrate all those who completed the 2024 educator license program. The Educators Pinning Ceremony will include appetizers and refreshments, networking, and words of inspiration for our graduating students!

Spring Concert final performance with Amy Sims, violin and Velléda Miragias, cello I 3-4 pm

This is the last of a three-part concert series presented this spring in conjunction with Salem State Explorers Lifelong Learning Institute and the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore. Amy Sims, violin and Velléda Miragias, cello will perform works by Mozart, Gliere and Ravel in Salem State's intimate Recital Hall.
