The fall festivities may be behind us, but the campus buzz is only getting brighter! As we step into December and the final stretch of the semester, there’s plenty of holiday cheer, exciting events, and end-of-year moments you won’t want to miss.

Student Success Series

Are you a student interested in building skills and enhancing strategies related to academic success? Do you need a little bit of guidance and support around a particular academic success topic? Attend a Student Success Series Workshop (via Zoom) happening all this week at a variety of times.

Tuesday, December 2

Take a Paws Study Break - 12-1 pm

Luna the therapy dog

Join us for a study break with Luna, the Goldendoodle therapy dog. 

For a safe event without distractions for our therapy dog teams, please no animal visitors unless you’re a service animal accompanied by your human. 

Ask a Dietitian -3:30-5:30 pm

Campus Life and Recreation/Gassett Fitness Center is partnering with your campus dietitian to offer advice and sample healthy snacks!

No need to pre-register.

Travel to Tampa, Florida for Spring Break - 5 pm

Want to make a difference? Join hurricane relief efforts! Help build homes with SBP and Salem State Community Service Initiative during Spring Break!

A Savage Art - 7-8:30 pm

The 2025 documentary A SAVAGE ART: The Life & Cartoons of Pat Oliphant will be screened on Tuesday, December 2, at 7 pm in Veterans Hall in the Ellison Campus Center.

Wednesday, December 3

Family Council: Study Abroad - 6:30-7:30 pm 

Learn about the many opportunities your student has to study abroad; whether for one week, one month, the summer season, or a semester. Students can study abroad at any point in their academic career and for all price ranges. Find out how to participate from Lauren Prema, Assistant Director for Study Abroad in the Center for International Education.

Thursday, December 4 

Philosophy Matters Speaker Series - 12-1:30 pm 

Join us as we kick off our Philosophy Matters Speaker Series with Dr. Cedric Woods, Director of the Institute for New England Native American Studies (INENAS). 

INENAS develops collaborative relationships, projects, and programs between Native American tribes of the New England region and all of the UMass campuses so that the tribes may participate in and benefit from university research, innovation, scholarship, and education.

Yoga and Art Workshop - 2-3:30 pm 

Join us for a rejuvenating experience that blends the calming flow of yoga with the expressive power of art. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or a curious beginner, this workshop is your space to unwind, express, and recharge. What to expect: guided yoga session (all levels welcome), creative art expression (no experience necessary), mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. Come as you are. Leave inspired. 

Small Music Ensembles - 7:30-9 pm

This concert has something for everyone with performances by our World Music Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and Improv Ensemble. 

Admission is free. Goodwill offering at the door is welcome.
