SALEM, MASS. – Salem State University’s hockey alumni will welcome and host the Boston Bruins alumni for a special exhibition game on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the O’Keefe Sports Complex, an event that promises to be a one-of-a-kind afternoon for hockey fans of all ages.
Salem State hockey alumni and friends will face off against former Boston Bruins players in a spirited competition that celebrates the university’s hockey history and brings generations of supporters together.
The event, presented by the Salem State University Alumni Association and Foundation, Inc., will raise funds in support of the Salem State Viking intercollegiate athletics program. The afternoon competition, set to run from 2 to 5 pm, marks the first time Salem State has hosted a Bruins alumni game.
“This event is about more than just hockey,” said Mike Mitchell ’07, director of engagement at Salem State. “It’s an opportunity to bring families, alumni and community members together on campus in a way that feels meaningful and fun. We’re proud to create an experience that connects our past, present and future while strengthening Salem State’s ties to the surrounding community.”
Proceeds from the event will help enhance the student-athlete experience at Salem State by supporting resources, opportunities and the continued growth of the university’s athletics program.
“Events like this create lasting memories while making a real difference for our programs,” said Nicky Wood ’95, director of athletics at Salem State. “Support generated through this game helps enhance the student-athlete experience and provides important resources that allow our programs to succeed.”
