Honoring LGBTQ+ History Month
Oct 1, 2025

Each October, Salem State University observes Pride Month in conjunction with LGBTQ+ History Month, a national observance dedicated to honoring the history, achievements, and contributions of LGBTQ+ communities. This observance recognizes the profound impact of LGBTQ+ individuals on culture, education, and civil rights, while also acknowledging the resilience of the community and the continued pursuit of equity and justice.

LGBTQ+ History Month remains a critical occasion for reflection and engagement. It fosters awareness, broadens understanding, and advances inclusion by encouraging all members of the university community to learn from the past and consider the ongoing challenges and opportunities that shape the present. At Salem State, the celebration of Pride during this month reaffirms the institution’s enduring commitment to visibility, equity, and belonging for every student and employee.
