Salem State University Alumni Association Awards 2018 Marilyn Flaherty Distinguished Alumna Award to Boston Resident

Margaret (Peg) Fitzgerald, of Boston, is the recipient of the Salem State University Alumni Association’s 2018 Marilyn Flaherty Distinguished Alumna Award.

Presented during a ceremony on campus on June 10, the annual award recognizes graduates who have distinguished themselves through professional accomplishments.

A Salem State nursing major who graduated in 1983, Fitzgerald has since become an internationally recognized presenter, providing programs for numerous professional organizations, universities and national and state healthcare associations. The recipient of numerous awards, she is an editorial board member of the Nurse Practitioner Journal, Medscape Nurses and Lexi-Comp, Inc.

“In addition to her outstanding professional accomplishments, Peg has been an active alum and loyal donor for years,” said Michael Randall, major gifts officer at Salem State University, who presented Fitzgerald with the award.

“During our 10,000 Reasons Campaign, she made a significant contribution to support the nursing program at Salem State. She is proud of her Salem State degree and values her time studying here,” Randall continued.
