Roger J. Douglas, EdD to Join Salem State as Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement

Salem State University is pleased to welcome Roger J. Douglas to campus beginning in May, 2026 as Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement and Executive Director of the Center for International Education. 

Roger J. Douglas, EdD Is Dean for International Programs and Development at Saint Martin’s University. Since 2019, he has expanded the university’s global engagement by establishing international exchange partnerships across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, while strengthening recruitment and support for a diverse international student population.

Dr. Douglas previously served in senior international leadership roles at Kutztown University, the University of British Columbia, and Lehigh University, and worked with International Schools Services, Inc. supporting global school leadership recruitment. His career began in Kuwait at the American Creativity Academy, where his leadership contributed to academic recognition and international accreditation.

He holds a B.S. from the University of Kansas, an M.A. from The College of New Jersey, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University.

Dr. Douglas is enthusiastic about the opportunities at Salem State University and looks forward to collaborating with faculty, staff, and administration to build upon the institution’s strong foundation.

“I see the investment the university is making in global engagement to ensure students can expand the opportunities available to them while attending SSU. Together, we will continue to position Salem State University as a destination institution that international students actively seek out, while also serving as a launch pad for SSU students to explore, study, and engage with the world."

His research interests include diversity and multicultural perspectives, ethics, and character education in international schools.
