Preparing for the Job & Internship Fair with Salem State Career Services

Feb 6, 2026

The Job and Internship Fair at Salem State University is Career Services’ premier annual event and open to all students from first-year to soon-to-graduate. It provides students an opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire SSU talent, explore other industries, practice elevator pitches, discuss future internship opportunities, and more.

How to Prepare

Step 1: Research employers
Look at the list of companies attending and think about companies you’re genuinely interested in. Take a little time to research about the companies, know what they do and what roles they may be hiring for. Explore employers.

Step 2: Update your resume
Make sure you bring multiple copies and tailor it toward the roles you want, keep it clean and one page if possible. Get resume help.

Step 3: Practice your intro
Have a quick 20–30 second pitch ready: your name, major, year, and what you’re looking for.

Step 4: Dress professionally
Business casual is usually safe unless told otherwise. When in doubt, dress a little nicer than you think you need to. If you are in need of business attire, visit the Salem State Career Closet.
