Dr. Barbara Poremba, Professor Emeritus of Nursing, was keynote speaker for History of Nursing at Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing.
Dr. Poremba shared stories of nurses in the Halifax Explosion, 1918 Pandemic, Cocoanut Grove Fire and WWII Nurses, especially Cadet Nurses.
She also published an article about the Halifax Explosion in the Salem News, "Neighbor helping neighbor — the true meaning of Christmas".
