SALEM, MASS. - Salem State University became a vibrant hub of international celebration as we welcomed a contingent of over 300 Ghanaian nationals on Friday, June 18, who will be staying on campus through Tuesday, June 30. Their visit coincides with the global excitement of the World Cup, and the Salem State community will have a unique opportunity to share in the festivities.
During their stay, they will host a series of on campus watch parties, cultural gatherings and celebratory events. Our students, faculty and staff are invited to join the festivities, and we are truly excited to share in the spirit of international camaraderie and to welcome them to campus. These gatherings offer our campus community a meaningful chance to build friendships, exchange cultural perspectives and celebrate the unifying power of sport.
“We are honored to welcome our guests from Ghana and delighted that our campus can serve as a gathering place4 for this moment of global celebration,” said Shawn Newton, Senior Vice President and Dean of Students. “The World Cup has a remarkable way of bringing people together, and this visit gives our community members a chance to build meaningful connections, share cultures and experience the joy of international friendship.”
This initiative was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of many across our campus community. Their efforts reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive, globally engaged environment where all feel welcome.
