Our Services

The Grants office staff will come to your department to provide information on our services as they relate to your area. We periodically conduct and participate in workshops and information sessions regarding grant resources and specific funding sources. Please contact us for more information on how we may assist you.

The Grants office can assist in finding prospective funding opportunities for your project and connect you with search engines and relevant RFP announcement sites. Our sources are primarily public funders (federal, state, or regional), educational and academic foundations, and related funding agencies.

We will work with your established collaborators or partners or help you connect with potential partners in the campus community, local agencies, schools, or other universities. We also collaborate with Advancement to access private family and corporate foundation sources of funding that may support your project or research.

We provide proposal guidance and selection criteria templates, as appropriate, to ensure that all grant application criteria are addressed. We may have sample proposals for similar projects, and we also have experience and extensive resources for federal program requirements. To ensure the most competitive proposal, we encourage lead time to allow for editing, proofreading, and outside review (when available and appropriate).

We also provide guidance and assistance in creating your budget and assessing expenses in accordance with funders’ guidance and SSU protocols. Budget approvals are often required before submission, so early budget planning is essential.

The Grants office will guide your proposal through the approval process for submission and submit (or assist your submission) according to funding guidance and deadlines. We will assist in gathering all required documentation and support materials and ensure that the proposal package is complete for submission. We require that all materials be provided to our office at least 10 business days prior to deadline to ensure a complete and timely submission.

Upon notice of award, we will notify principal investigators (PIs) and all relevant campus officers/staff including public relations/marketing, where appropriate. Financial Services will receive notice of award and initiate contract or other documentation to access to award funds.

Upon notice of award, we will facilitate your contact with appropriate staff in Financial Services to expedite access to funding and implementation of your project. Our office provides assistance to PIs and Financial Services as needed during the post-award period.
