Information About Peabody Hall

Peabody Hall is one of two First Year Experience residence halls and houses 350 first-year students. The hall is made up of seven floors, each complete with a community area, and offers double, triple and quad style rooms. Each floor is designated as either single-gender or co-ed (with rooms assigned by biological sex).

On the ground floor, Vikings have access to an information desk, vending machines, a pool table, a foosball table, a flatscreen TV, Bluetooth speaker bar, laundry room, mail room, and kitchen area.

Living on campus has its perks, Peabody Hall is located just steps from its sister building Bowditch Hall, the library, academic buildings, a dining hall and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Peabody Hall residents take pride in creating a safe space for all residents and a fun, supportive living environment.

What to Know About Living in Peabody

First year students are able to participate in the nationally recognized FIRST DAY program prior to the start of classes and have the opportunity to connect with faculty through the Cornerstone Project and fireside chats throughout the year.

First Year Reading Experience
The First-Year Reading Experience (FYRE) at Salem State University connects new students to the university community through a shared reading experience, welcoming them to a culture that values the thoughtful discussion of ideas. On opening day, first-year students meet with faculty, librarians, administrators, staff, and alumni for a conversation about a selected book. Many professors will also incorporate the book and its themes into first year courses and events throughout the academic year.

The Healthy Living Themed Housing Community is for students that are actively seeking a healthy lifestyle and are interested in learning more about health and wellness.

Peabody Hall is staffed by a master's level resident director, an assistant resident director, ten resident assistants, and three academic mentors.

A 24-hour security/information desk is located at the entrance to the hall.
