What should faculty prioritize when considering the impact of AI on fall courses?
This session will introduce an AI Course Design Checklist to help instructors reflect on recent teaching experiences, assess their own emerging AI literacies, and plan ahead for the rest of the semester. We will discuss student perspectives on AI and emerging use-cases, AI implications for assignment and assessment design, AI syllabus statements, and course activities that consider AI usage (both opportunities to consider AI integrations and approaches that might steer students away from AI usage that deviates from course or assignment policies). This session is designed to help instructors consider AI's impact at later points in the semester and how to anticipate potential questions, concerns, and opportunities to test and assess course design choices that consider AI's impact. Facilitated by Jim McGrath, instructional designer (jmcgrath2@salemstate.edu).
