Your work and research are important, and so is your ability to communicate to others what it is that you do and why it matters. Designed for graduate students from all disciplines, this session is your guide to translating complex work into a compelling, impactful message for a wide range of audiences. You will learn to:
• Understand why it's important to be able to communicate effectively with different stakeholders
• Identify your audience and what they care about so that you plan your message with your audience in mind
• Craft a clear, compelling message that highlights your work's impact
About the Speaker
Dr. Jovana Milosavljevic Ardeljan is the Director for Career, Professional, and Community Development at the University of New Hampshire Graduate School. Both her academic research and her professional role at UNH center on supporting communication skill-development for graduate students and post-docs to help them prepare for diverse career pathways. Dr. Milosavljevic Ardeljan designs and delivers professional development programs that help graduate students and postdocs navigate academia, prepare for future careers, and use both written and oral communication to translate their work and research into meaningful, real-world applications.
