Alrie McNiff Daniels helps organizations shift the way they think and talk about aging and older adults. A certified Reframing Aging facilitator, she has more than 30 years’ experience promoting public health and healthier communities.
The Reframing Aging initiative is a national effort to advance a more accurate and complete story about aging. It challenges common narratives; emphasizes the wisdom and experience of older people; fosters more equitable, inclusive, and supportive communities; and promotes practices that make it possible for everyone to live meaningful lives.
After the workshop, attendees will be able to:
• Understand how implicit bias shapes attitudes and actions
• Define ageism and provide examples of how it shows up in everyday interactions
• Describe framing and identify key reframing aging principles
• Integrate reframing principles to activate productive thinking about aging and older adults
• Recognize elderspeak, its consequences, and access tools to eliminate it
