Spring Break Trip to Massachusetts State House

The Frederick E. Berry Institute of Politics (Berry IOP) at Salem State University is offering a FREE Spring Break trip to the Massachusetts State House. Students will stay in Boston and engage with policy makers, lobbyists, and local activists to understand how Massachusetts is tackling our most pressing social issues. Students will participate in immersive simulations, policy talks, networking opportunities, and more throughout the trip.
 

You are most likely to secure a spot if you apply by Monday, December 15, the priority deadline. Decisions for priority selection will be made by Friday, January 2. All applications will be due Monday, January 26. If you are considering submitting your application after the priority deadline, please be aware that all 15 spots may already be filled.
 

When: Tuesday, March 17-Thursday, March 19

Where: Boston, Massachusetts

Costs: The Berry IOP will cover all travel, hotel accommodations, program-related activities, and some meals. 

Mandatory Meetings: 

  • Meeting 1: Tuesday, February 17 from 11 am-1 pm or Wednesday, February 18 from 3-5 pm
  • Meeting 2: Monday, March 2 from 11 am-1 pm

Optional Info Sessions: 

  • Monday, November 17 from 11 am-1 pm (Drop-in, in person, Meier Hall 250)
  • Tuesday, November 25 at 3 pm (Zoom)
  • Tuesday, December 2 from 2-5 pm (Drop-in, in person, Meier Hall 250)

Filling out this form does not guarantee you a spot on this trip. All applications will be reviewed and final decisions will be sent by Friday, January 30. Up to 15 students will be selected. Preference will be shown to those who complete the required SSU travel paperwork. After you complete this form, we will send you the travel paperwork to be completed and details about the mandatory meeting on Monday, February 17.
