Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaboration

The Maguire Meservey College of Health and Human Services (MMCHHS) is committed to providing Interprofessional education and collaborative practice opportunities to positively influence patient care, patient outcomes, and healthcare professionals’ work experiences to reduce error in healthcare and promote the highest outcomes. The Interprofessional Education Faculty Advisory Committee oversees the development and implementation of IPE activities. All students from the MMCHHS and other departments outside of the college have the unique opportunity of participating in IPE learning events throughout their time at Salem State. These events include in-person case-base experiences and case simulations, interprofessional clinical experiences and virtual expert community panels which focus on health disparities, public health programming and policy. 

Interprofessional opportunities include educational experiences that allow students to: 

• Adopt interprofessional values and ethics as the foundation of practice, 
• Understand a variety of healthcare team members’ roles and responsibilities, 
• Demonstrate effective interprofessional communication skills, and 
• Develop abilities to work effectively as members of the healthcare team.
