How RISE Works
Students are matched with a Student Success Coach who provides personalized support throughout their college journey.
Through regular 1:1 biweekly meetings, coaches take the students through a structured curriculum, designed to provide motivation and encouragement, help students set goals, navigate campus resources, and stay on track academically and personally through their first and second year at the institution.
Who Can Join and How

The RISE program supports up to 200 students every year. Students must be first-generation, and either in their first-year or second year at Salem State to participate. Transfer students can participate.
Information

First year invitations are generally sent in June; second year in April. Students are also called on the phone. To join, simply complete the sign-up form in your invitation.
How to Join

Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must sign up themselves and are not part of the program until they have completed the sign-up form. Didn’t receive or lost your invitation? Email firstgen@salemstate.edu.
