Swampscott Resident Named Salem State University Alumni Association’s 2022 Dr. Marilyn E. Flaherty ’54 Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient

Chrysoula Hatzis Varvounis ’93, of Swampscott, has been named the 2022 recipient of Salem State University Alumni Association’s Dr. Marilyn E. Flaherty ’54 Distinguished Alumna Award for her outstanding professional accomplishments.

Varvounis graduated from Salem State in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. As owner of Bean Hatzis & Fultz, a tax preparation and accounting services firm in Salem, she helps small businesses and individuals improve their cashflow and net income by identifying, analyzing and implementing financial solutions.

“Helping people increase their profitability and business efficiency in the Salem and surrounding communities is something I’m truly passionate about,” said Varvounis. “I thank Salem State for recognizing my commitment to the region and its residents, and I’m honored to receive this distinguished award.”

According to Mike Mitchell ’07, associate director of alumni relations, “The Dr. Marilyn E. Flaherty ’54 Distinguished Alumna/us Award is reserved for an individual who has made a name for themself after graduation. For over 30 years, Chrys has had an impact on our community by providing close personal and professional attention to those who need financial guidance. We are proud to call Chrys a Viking.”
