The Department of World Languages and Cultures sponsors:
Two competitive scholarships for students studying abroad in spring 2026. Each scholarship is worth $1,000. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is December 1, 2025.
Five competitive scholarships for students studying abroad in summer 2026. Each scholarship is worth $250. The deadline for these scholarships is May 15, 2026.
Eligible languages to be studied while abroad:
- Italian
- French
- Spanish
Eligibility: Undergraduate Salem State University students who are enrolled in a spring 2026 or a summer 2025 study abroad program in one of the listed languages. Preference given to majors and minors in the Department of World Languages and Cultures.
How to apply: Submit a photocopy of your study about application and a personal statement reflecting on the following questions: What initially inspired me to learn this language or study abroad in this country? How does my study abroad program relate to my future professional, academic, and/or personal goals?
Your personal statement may be submitted as either a 500-word essay or a three-minute video.
