Salem State Room Decorating Contest 2022

Vikings, it’s time to channel your inner interior designer for our room decorating contest this fall! Hosted by the Salem State Residence Life team, the contest will award $50 in ClipperCash to five winners, one from each residence hall: Atlantic, Bowditch, Peabody, Marsh and Viking. The contest is open to all students living on campus, and winners will be voted by YOU!

Are you ready to put your creativity and innovative ideas to the test as you personalize your new home? We can’t wait to see your room transformations!

The contest will accept submissions from September 3-September 7 and voting will take place September 8-11. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 13!

Timeline

  • Submissions will be accepted at salemstate.edu/roomdecoratingcontest from September 3-September 7.

  • Voting will take place from September 8-11. Stay tuned – photos will be shared on Instagram and we need YOUR input as judges!

  • Winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 13.

Prize

Winners for individual rooms will be awarded $50 in ClipperCash. Those living in a double can submit one entry and will be awarded $100, or $50 each.

Rules

Participants must follow these rules to qualify for the contest:

  • Submit only your best photo of your room in the submission link. Please do not send a collage photo!

  • Do not include visible drug or alcohol paraphernalia, promotional materials or obscene materials. You or your roommate should not be included in the picture.

  • If you live in a double, both roommates must agree to participate in the contest. Submitted photos that are not approved by both roommates will be removed.

  • The contest applies to individual bedroom spaces only, not common spaces.

  • Entries are judged based on the photographs submitted by residents. In submitting a photo, residents give permission for any images taken during this process to be used indefinitely on Salem State’s website and in marketing materials for the purposes of providing visual examples of on-campus living.

  • Winners will be chosen in a survey format shared on Salem State’s social media channels and announced on September 13.
