Salem State Theatre Heads to the Ren Faire with Something Rotten!

Opening Friday, April 19

Welcome to the "90’s" – the 1590’s – when a leather-clad wordsmith with swiveling hips is rocking London: one Will Shakespeare! His works are loved by all except the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel. They are desperate to write a hit play and find their fame and fortune, while also staying ahead of their money lenders. Enter local soothsayer Nostradamus who foretells that the future of theatre is singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, setting the Bottom brothers off to write the world’s first musical! But amidst the scandalous excitement of Opening Night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self…and all that jazz.

This production is set in a Ren Faire, offering the audience an immersive experience the moment they enter the lobby. Audience members are HIGHLY encouraged to come in Ren Faire costumes. You might even end up on stage! Filled with fabulous musical numbers and a hilarious plot line, this irresistible ode to musicals with is a dose of pure Broadway fun!

Performances take place in the Sophia Gordon Center on April 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 7:30 pm and April 21 and 28 at 2 pm.
