This is the second of a three part concert series presented this spring in conjunction with Salem State Explorers Lifelong Learning Institute and the Jewish Community Center of the North Shore.

Rasa Vitkauskaite, piano and Velléda Miragiascello perform works by Beethoven and  Rachmaninov in Salem State's intimate Recital Hall.

Internationally acclaimed multiple prize-winning Lithuanian pianist Rasa Vitkauskaite has been hailed for “artistry of poetic and observant sensitivity” (Gramophone) and dubbed as “a Beethoven interpreter of penetrating insight” (Fanfare). Her recent CD including Mozart Concerto No. 20 in D Minor and Beethoven Concerto No. 3 in C Minor was praised as comparable to Rudolf Serkin and the New York Philharmonic. Rasa has performed in over 30 countries and was recently named a Steinway Artist. Current season highlights include Rasa’s recording of Mendelssohn Double Concerto with Tchaikovsky Gold Medal violinist Ilya Kaler. She is also the long-serving, critically acclaimed pianist of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.

Boston-based Parisian cellist Velléda Miragias has received critical acclaim from le Confolentais for her "impeccable technical mastery, [and] strong expression," and currently enjoys a diverse career as a freelance solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, educator, and entrepreneur across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Peter Sheckman will lead a pre-concert talk beginning at 2:15 pm.

Admission to this concert is free. Advance reservations are recommended as seating is limited.

Final concert in the series will take place on Sunday, April 14 with Amy Sims, violin and Velléda Miragias, cello.
